Distribution
Bangladesh; India; Myanmar; Sri Lanka; Thailand and Malaysia.
Size
Total length of this snake species is 108 cm, tail length is 12.5 cm.
Structural features
Mental scute is large but not concealed in mental groove. 1–3 maxillary teeth behind fangs and 7–9 palatine teeth are present which are similar in size to ptergyoid teeth. This snake has head with yellow supraorbital stripe surrounding a blackish crown patch that extends forward to prefrontals. Olive to brown above with 40 to 60 narrow dark annuli and yellowish below. 27–33 scale rows are around neck, 39–45 around midbody, imbricate and keeled. Ventrals are 296–330, distinct throughout but not twice as large as adjacent scales and preanal scales enlarged (There is no photograph found anywhere of this snake species).
Habitat
Very little is known about this species. There is no information found about the habitat type of this snake.
Reproduction
They are ovoviviparous, no litter size reported.
Behavior
Behavior of this snake species is probably very similar to Hydrophis gracilis. They are both diurnal and nocturnal.
Venom characteristics
Not well known, but probably its venom contain potent neurotoxins and myotoxins. Very few human bites or envenomations, no fatalities reported.
